When can construction commence?

Last modified: August 16, 2006 - 2:40 PM

Where development consent from Council to carry out a particular activity involves the erection of a building or the construction of roads, a Construction Certificate must also be obtained prior to the commencement of any building or construction works on site.

A Construction Certificate (formerly known as a Building Application) certifies that the detailed building or engineering plans and specifications are not only consistent with the development consent but also comply with the Building Code of Australia. Building works may not proceed until both a Development Application and a Construction Certificate Application have been approved. A Development Application Form is attached.
